At El Guapo, we come face to face with life and death need each day.

We know the dehumanizing and demoralizing face of need: the need for food and clothing when a person has sold everything for his or her next fix. The need for shelter when a person has slept too many nights in a makeshift shack in an abandoned lot. The need for medicine and counseling when a person finally says enough is enough and comes to us for help. And the need for a strong and tireless advocate who won't let him or her fall through the cracks. Someone who will deal one-on-one with treatment centers, city agencies and social service organizations. El Guapo began as one person responding to the need of another, and today our volunteers, Board of Directors and alumni all help El Guapo meet the needs of those who seek our help.
